     Summer Camps

Summer is a time to make new friends, try new things, and explore the world around you! Plan ahead and sign up for our “Ed-venture” camps and spend those lazy days of summer at the Flint RiverQuarium and Thronateeska Heritage Center. Each week campers will submerge themselves in aquatic fun, exploration, and plenty of hands-on opportunities.

To register, call 229-639-2650. Each day of Summer Camp is priced individually. Choose as many days as you like! Camp payment is due in full when reservations are made.

June 7 & 8: Ocean Commotion

8 am-5 pm

Ages: Rising 1st grade to rising 4th grade

Cost per day: $40/non-members or $30/members

Join us as we embark on a high seas adventure! Become an ocean sleuth and uncover the mysteries of the deep. Learn about unique ocean habitats while meeting some strange and mysterious creatures. Discover how our own Flint River is important to our oceans. Dive into two days ]of fun and discovery as we take the plunge into our wild oceans!

June 12 & 13: Fun in the Sun

8 am-5 pm

Ages: Rising 1st grade to rising 4th grade

Cost per day: $40/non-members or $30/members

Summer is all about sunny days! We will make the most of them at this camp with lots of outdoor games, races, and other activities. After all of that, it will be time to cool off. Prepare to get wet as we visit the splash fountain right next door to the Flint RiverQuarium!

June 18 & 19: Food Science

8 am-5 pm

Ages: Rising 2nd grade to rising 6th grade

Cost per day: $50/non-members or $40/members

Ever wondered what makes your food taste so good? Or, maybe, why what you bake never turns out just right? Explore the science of food as we cook up a feast full of experiments! After all, you are what you eat! So what are you made of?

June 28 & 29: Survivor Camp

8 am-5 pm

Ages: Rising 2nd grade to rising 6th grade

Cost per day: $40/non-members or $30/members

Do you know what it takes to be a survivor? Come join our Survivor Team and find out if you are brave enough to be up-close and personal with snakes and alligators! Each day you will learn what it takes for creatures and humans to survive in the wild. Weather allowing, we will taking a nature hike to track animals and put our survivor skills to the test!

July 9: Wacky Water Science Camp

8 am-5 pm

Ages: Rising 1st grade to rising 4th grade

Cost per day: $40/non-members or $30/members

With all the water everywhere, how much of it can we drink? How much do we use? Come explore all of the wonders of water with us! We will explore all of the uses of water, where it can be found, who on Earth uses it and how we can conserve it. Who knows? We might even get to experience firsthand just how “cool” this natural resource is!

July 13: Freaky Science Camp

8 am-5 pm

Ages: Rising 1st grade to rising 4th grade

Cost per day: $40/non-members or $30/members

It’s Friday the 13th and things can get a little freaky! Come and join us as we explore the science behind the experiments and get a little crazy! Be prepared to get your hands a little messy and your mind blown at how freaky science can be!

July 18 & 19: Geology Rocks!

8 am-5 pm

Ages: Rising 2nd grade to rising 6th grade

Cost per day: $50/non-members or $40/members

Do you like to dig in the dirt looking for treasures? Would you like to know what really goes on underground? Have you ever seen a volcano erupt? Do you like dreaming about when the dinosaurs walked the Earth? Did you always want a pet rock? Join us as we take a walk through time and explore all of the geologic wonders around the globe.

July 24 & 25: Paleontology Camp

8 am-5 pm

Ages: Rising 2nd grade to rising 6th grade

Cost per day: $50/non-members or $40/members

Did you know that the word “Dinosaur” literally means “terrible lizard?” Come and learn more about the wondrous world of dinosaurs as a special guest from Fernbank joins us! Step into our Earth’s dynamic past as you go on a dinosaur dig and examine real fossils. Discover the actual size of these enormous creatures and come face-to-face with their closest living relatives. We look forward to a “Dino-mite” camp with our future paleontologists!
